Getting Started with Assistant

create an account, choose a mode, and understand your results and daily allowances

Open PlantQTLdb Assistant

create your account

Use a verified account to access Assistant conversations and view your daily usage

register
Select Create an account, enter your name and email, and set a password of at least 10 characters. Select Continue to receive a verification email.
verify your email
Enter the 6-digit code on the registration page and select Create account. Verification activates your account and opens Assistant. The page shows when the code expires and when you can request another one.
sign in again
Use the same email and password on later visits. If you forget your password, use Forgot password? on the sign-in page.

choose a mode

Choose a mode beside the message input to match the kind of help you need.

Quick
concise answers to routine evidence questions
Standard
broader database and literature retrieval; the default mode
Research
scientific tools and deeper evidence investigation, including STRING, enrichment, sequence extraction and KG variant queries

try your first analysis

With Research selected, copy this question into Assistant and send it. Include the tool, species and gene identifiers when asking about your own network.

a functional association network

ask
Use STRING to analyze the functional association network of Arabidopsis genes AT1G01010 and AT1G01020

what you receive

A successful answer includes a STRING network card with download buttons. This example returned two protein nodes and one association edge when checked; results may change as STRING updates its data.

read and save the result

Check the source, status and completeness of each result before interpreting it. A preview may omit records. No matches and an unavailable service are different outcomes; neither establishes that a biological relationship is absent.

check the status
Confirm that STRING returned a successful result. A literature answer alone does not mean the network analysis ran.
read the network
Nodes represent mapped proteins and edges represent functional associations. An edge does not by itself establish direct physical binding.
download the evidence
Use CSV for returned rows, JSON for structured results and metadata, or SVG for the network diagram. Sequence tools also offer FASTA when a sequence is returned.

understand daily allowances

Quick, Standard and Research each have a separate daily request allowance. Check the Assistant sidebar for the remaining allowance, or open Your account to see your usage and daily limit for each mode.

what counts
Each accepted request uses one unit of the selected mode's allowance, including while queued or running. Opening a new conversation does not reset your usage.
failed or cancelled tasks
Failed or cancelled tasks do not use your daily allowance. A completed answer still counts, even if a tool returns a warning or finds no matching records.
when it resets
Daily allowances reset at midnight in the website's configured time zone, which may differ from your local time. Follow the reset information displayed by the website.
who sets the limit
Administrators set the allowances. You can view your usage but cannot increase your own limit. Check your account for the current values.
if a limit is reached
Wait for the daily reset. You can use another mode if it has allowance remaining and supports the task; switching to Standard or Quick does not enable Research-only tools.

continue with your own question

Name the species, gene or trait and the action you want. For gene-centered interpretation, you can also open a Search result and send its evidence context to Assistant.
